Ron Owens posted a condolence

It has been my extreme good fortune to have shared a deep and abiding friendship with Bill Barrick for more than 40 years. He became a 3rd brother to me. Bill was a special guy. He had an easy-going spirit, a ready laugh, a kind heart, and a sincere willingness to help others. We shared about 20 seasons of GAO league softball (and after-game libations). Bill was the coach and the glue that held that team together. We shared many lunches, laughs, and commiserations in the GAO cafeteria. Margaret & I thoroughly enjoyed the times spent with Bill and Mary Sue. Each of these beautiful people were snatched from this earth much too soon. They will be (are being) sorely missed. However, Bill, you have let me down…you were supposed to be here for another 15 or 20 years.

So sorry to hear of Bill's untimely passing. We were friends and colleagues at GAO. Got to see him a year or two ago while visiting Ron Owens in Richmond. Deepest sympathy and prayers for the family.

I am so sorry about Bill's sudden passing. He and I became good friends through the Ski Club of Washington sailing program, and it is not the same without him. Bill was always friendly, kind, and generous. I will miss him.

Dear Jane,
Isidro and I were so very saddened to hear about Bill's passing. We have so many fond memories of Bill, playing softball, the softball after-parties, and of course, Isidro treasured working with such a wonderful colleague. Please know that you and your family are in our hearts and prayers.
Affectionately,
Isidro Gomez and Tamara Tanner

I knew Bill from the Potomac Sailing program of the Ski Club of Washington DC. As a skipper, I was always happy to see Bill's smiling face and was pleased when he was assigned to my boat. An avid biker, he was happy to share his experiences with bike-and-barge trips in Europe and my wife and I are considering following in his footsteps (or pedals) someday. He was a kind and gentle person and one of my favorite people whom I looked forward to seeing on each sailing trip.
Bill will be sorely missed. If the rest of us can leave such a legacy of warm memories and affection in our wake as he has, then it has been a life well-lived.

I worked alongside Bill at GAO for many years. When we would meet in the building he always had a warm smile and a kind word to say. Were his spirit electrical energy, he could light up half the world. He was a true treasure and fortunate are those of us whom he called friend, and truly blessed are those to whom he gave his love. My condolences to his family and many, many friends.
