Obituary of Michael P. Tamblyn

Michael Tamblyn, age 74, died Thursday 1/25/24 at his home in Mount Pleasant PA.  Michael was born July 29, 1949 in Everson PA, the son of the late John and Edna Shandorf Tamblyn.  He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church and a 1967 graduate of Southmoreland High School.

A few short years after graduation, Michael was drafted by the U.S. Army.  He served in Vietnam (1969-1970) with D-Troop, 17th Cav, 199th Light Infantry Brigade where he distinguished himself earning the Purple Heart, Bronze Star medal with V Device, and Combat Infantry Badge.    Michael bravely served with fellow veterans who continued to be lifelong friends and brothers in arms.

Michael was a welder by trade, working at Walworth (Greensburg PA), Volkswagon (New Stanton PA), and Electro-Glass (Norvelt PA).  Upon retirement, he enjoyed traveling to Virginia to visit his daughters and grandchildren, going on beach trips and to the casino with his wife, and relaxing at his home.

Michael was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Nikki, in 2021. He is survived by his daughters, Carmen (Michael) Corsi of Ashburn, VA and Jodi (Brian) Janosko of Falls Church, VA, and by his beloved grandchildren Dylan and Giada Corsi.  He is also survived by his sister, Judy Bandemer, of Scottdale PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife,Michael was preceded in death by:his sisterMonaSuchocki and his fourbrothers Jack Tamblyn, Thomas Tamblyn, William Tamblyn, and Edward Tamblyn.

Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2pm-6pm at the Galone- Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant PA.

A blessing service will be held Monday at 10:30 am in the funeral home, followed by Michael’s Funeral Mass at 11 am in St Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mount Pleasant.  A Military Honors will be held following Mass by American Legion Post 446 of Mt.
