Obituary of Mary Martha Toczek
Mary Martha (Polanovsky) Toczek, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday October 16, 2022 in UPMC Shadyside Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born May 8, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant daughter of the late John J. and Matilda Jablunovsky Polanovsky.
Mary was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, and their Christian Mothers and Rosary Altar Society's. She was a graduate of East Huntington class of 1957. Mrs. Toczek retired as a secretary in the Fort Cherry School District. Mary was a faithful volunteer at Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and spoiling her cat Abby. Mary was an excellent cook and baker, and she especially enjoyed continuing the ethnic and religious traditions. She most of all enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Theresa M. Toczek of Mt. Pleasant, and her son, John J. Toczek (Anita) of Somerset, N.J.; her beloved grandchildren, Brian and Asha Toczek; her siblings, John M. Polanovsky (Barbara) of Mt Pleasant, Frank S. Polanovsky (Patty) of Connellsville, and Philomena A. Polanovsky of Mt. Pleasant; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Toczek in 2017; and her sister, Catherine M. Meehan in 2014.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 8 PM and on Thursday from 12 to 1 PM the time of her blessing service at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St. Mt. Pleasant. Mary's funeral mass will follow at 1:30 PM at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Interment will follow in Visitation Parish Cemetery. A rosary will be recited Thursday at 11:30 AM with Visitation Christian Mothers and the Rosary Altar Society.
