Obituary of Betty Jane Henry

______ Betty Jane (Phillabaum) Henry, age 99, of Scottdale, PA died Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Greensburg. Mrs. Henry was born August 24, 1921 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Riley) Phillabaum. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and had served on the Church council. Betty was a 1939 graduate of the former Hurst High School. She had been employed by Frick Hospital for 20 years as a Central Supply Clerk. Betty was active with the Silver Sneakers and enjoyed the Adult Fellowship Group at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Mount Pleasant. Her most cherished time however, was spent with her family and she was so looking forward to celebrating with them, what would have been her 100th birthday in August. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia McConnell of Florida and Kathy (Kirk) Lowstetter of Greensburg and her daughter in law, Judy Henry of Mt. Pleasant. She will be greatly missed by her beloved grandchildren; Kimberly (Mike) Cannaday, Brian McConnell, Jennifer Gann, John (Erin) Henry, Mark Henry, David Henry and Kris McConnell and by her great-grandchildren; Gavin, Cindy, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Zachary, Austin, Michelle, and George and her great-great-grandchildren; Mason, Braiden, Nolan and Patrick. Betty is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Flannigan and Ida Mae Moyemont In addition to her parents, Betty Jane was preceded in death by her husbands, LeRoy Chappell in 1942 and Gail Henry in 1989, by her son, Barry Henry, her son-in-law, Robert E. McConnell, her grandson, Robert E. McConnell II and by her brothers, Charles, James, and William Phillabaum. Family and Friends will be received on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM, at the Galone-Caruso Funeral home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. Betty’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 3, at St. John’s Union Church, 170 Hecla Road, Mount Pleasant, PA, with her pastor, the Rev. Robert Kruel Officiating.
