Obituary of Herman John Caruso

Herman John “Hermie” Caruso, age 85 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died peacefully, Friday, (07/2/2021), in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Caruso was born October 12, 1935 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Herman Nicholas and Carmella Rose DiMichele Caruso. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Hermie was a 1954 graduate of the former Ramsay High School. He had served in the Army National Guard, Company E. Hermie was a Master Automobile Mechanic and the owner and operator of H. Caruso, Jr. Sales and Service for more than 45 years, where he was well known and highly respected for his work. His lot was always full of cars and people, some needing service, others who just stopped in to visit and “shoot the breeze”. Hermie was an honorary life member of the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department. He played clarinet and saxophone for the local band, the Debonair’s for years, entertaining at many weddings and gatherings. Hermie was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed shooting trap at the East Huntingdon and RuffsDale Gun Clubs. His most cherished times however, were those spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hermie is survived by his loving family: his wife of 65 years, Sally Lou Lobingier Caruso and by his sons, H. Scott Caruso of Mt Pleasant and Todd William Caruso and his wife Renee of Acme. He will be greatly missed by his Beloved Grandchildren; Christina White and her husband Adam of Acme, Christopher Caruso of Mt. Pleasant, Jennifer Stouffer and her husband Cedric of Acme, Camille Miele and her husband Dan of Acme and Laura Caruso of Acme and by his great grandchildren; Abigail, Adalyn, Vaida, Vivian, Bryson, Hunter, and one on the way. Hermie is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Cibulas and her husband Steven of Allen Park, MI and Judy Reese and her husband Dr. Leslie Reese of Amarillo, TX. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Hermie’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 12:00 Noon in St. Pius X RC Church, 224 Summit St., Mount Pleasant. (Everyone is asked to meet at the church) Private Interment will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
