Obituary of John E. Rerko

John E. Rerko, Jr., age 68, of Tarrs, PA died Saturday, May 1, 2021 at his home. Mr. Rerko was born September 1, 1952 in Mount Pleasant, the son of Agnes Sieckowski Rerko and the late John E. Rerko, Sr. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. John was a 1970 graduate of Geibel High School and attended college. He grew up working on the Rerko Poultry Farm. John served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. Years later, he was employed at Yuma Proving Grounds in AZ. Most recently, he was self-employed, the owner of Parts Coop in Tarrs. He was very active with the Boy Scouts of America. John was especially known and will be fondly remembered for his fun loving attitude, quick wit and his sense of humor. He always had a joke or funny story to share. John is survived by his Mother, Agnes of Tarrs, his son, Christopher Rerko of Yuma, AZ, his brother, Steven J. Rerko “Pete “ and his wife, Janine of Tarrs and by his sisters, Tereasa Rerko and her husband, Thom Grundy of Acme and Susan Napenas and her husband, Reynaldo of Connellsville. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Brandi N. Hagerty (Jim) of Kennedy Township, Daniel Napenas (Katie Dopkowski) of Munhall, Shelby Rerko Grundy (Rob Chappel) of Wilkins Township and Patrick Grundy of Acme. In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by his infant sister, Rose Marie Rerko. Family and friends are invited to attend John’s Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 8, at 11:00 AM. in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Walnut Street, Mount Pleasant, PA. Inurnment will follow in the Visitation Parish Cemetery with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 446. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the East Huntington Twp. VFD or the Visitation Parish, in Memory of John Rerko.
