Robert Emory East, age 94 of Donegal, PA, formerly of Kokomo, IN, died Saturday, April 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. East was born June 10, 1926 in Kokomo, Indiana, the son of the late Emory and Emma Hubbard East. Bob was a proud veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. He also served in the United States Air Force from 1948 until 1952. He then began his career, serving his community as a 1st class Fireman, Lt. Captain and Chief of the Kokomo Fire Department. Retiring after 23 years, Bob moved to Frakes, KY with his wife to serve as House Parents for a United Methodist Mission. 63 children passed through their home in 12 years. He had also been a Maintenance Supervisor for Henderson Settlement. Bob was a member of Howard Lodge #93 F & AM of Kokomo, IN since 1954 and a Member of the Retired Police and Firefighters Association for the State of Indiana. Bob is survived by his loving family: his children, Patty Hurst and her husband, Richard and Mickey E. East and his wife, Tina, all of Donegal, his grandchildren, Tonya Huffer, Greg Nickels, Niki Jackson and David, Mason, & Cassidy East , his great-grandchildren; Kiersten Dorman, Kyle & Kayla Vandervort, Lily, Mattie and RJ Huffer and Melanie and Kyle East and by his great-great- granddaughter, Brooklyn Dorman. He is also survived by his extended family, Robert Joseph East, Rita, Lynda, Wayne, Wade, Arty, Josh, Justin, Cherish, Sandra, Julie, Chase, Peyton, Crystal, Rose, Gabby, and Carman, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of over 72 years, Bettie Louise East in March of 2018, his daughter, Sandra Jane East in 1955, his brother, Elmer East and his five sisters; Wilma Rae East, Arlene Schroeter, Ethel Hurley, Maxine Bean, and Leota Weitzel. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, from 5 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home,204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, PA. Marion Lodge #562 will conduct Masonic Services Wednesday at 7 PM in the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held Thursday from noon until 1:00 PM, the time of Bob’s funeral service in the funeral home with his grandson, Richard Huffer, officiating. Following CDC Guidelines, face masks must be worn and Social Distancing must be maintained. We Thank You for your patience and understanding. Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the Stahlstown Cemetery, Stahlstown, PA.
