Obituary of John A. Kolonosky

John A. Kolonosky Jr., age 87 of Mt. Pleasant , died Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Excela Health-Frick Hospital. Mr. Kolonosky was born September 14, 1933 in Greensburg, PA, a son of the late John A. and Elizabeth Cehlar Kolonosky. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for Saturday night Mass for many years. John was a truck driver for SuperValu and then later retired as a Supervisor. He was a Life Member of the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department and member of the Mt. Pleasant Fireman's Club and the Polish Falcons. John is survived by his loving children; John J. Kolonosky (Tammie) and Lisa Durst (Brian) and his son-in-law, Ronald Smen. He will be greatly missed by his loving grandchildren; Jeffrey Smen (Rachael), Heather Cosalter (Bill), Jillian Helms (Eric), John B. Kolonosky, Brook Durst, and Claire Durst and by his great-grandchildren, Tyler Kolonosky, Mia Cosalter, and Theodore Helms. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Regina Kubasky Kolonosky in 2019, his daughter, Carol J. Smen in 2015, and by his sisters, Mary Kolonosky, Elizabeth Kolonosky, Barbara Kaper, Helen Pokracki and Kathryn Valentage. Family and friends will be received Monday, April 12 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home , followed by John’s Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church. Interment will follow in the Visitation Parish Cemetery. Following CDC Guidelines, face masks must be worn at the Funeral Home and in Church and Social Distancing must be maintained.
