Obituary of Roy J. Smith

Roy J. Smith, age 96, of Dawson died Thursday March 25, 2021, in Excela Frick Hospital. Mr Smith was born June 20, 1924 in Greensburg, to the late Roy B. and Mary Baer Smith. Roy attended Life Spring Christian Church in Greenburg. Prior to his retirement he was employed with U.S. Steel Homestead works. Roy loved the outdoors and farming, he never needed to carry a watch he ran on sun time, he only knew work. Roy is survived by his loving family, his daughters; Mary Ann Leshko of Ruffsdale, Dorothy Yungwirth of Scottdale, and Dawn Hayes of Dawson. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and his sister Dorothy Kring of Alverton. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Gault Smith in 1997, his sons; George and Wendell Smith, and by his brother and sister; Frank Smith and Della Evancho. Family and friends will be received Saturday from 2 until 6 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. Private funeral services will be held for the family. Private Interment will be in Cochran Cemetery, Dawson. Following Covid-19 Guidelines, only 40 people are permitted in the Funeral Home at one time.
