Obituary of Joseph R. Lesko

Joseph R. “Sonny” Lesko Jr., age 73 of North Huntingdon, PA, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, (02/8/2021) in the UPMC-East, Monroeville, PA. Mr. Lesko was born Dec. 29, 1947 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Ketch Lesko. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church of Irwin. Sonny was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School and had attended the University of Pittsburgh. He had been employed as a Power Plant Operator for Reliant Energy for many years. His true passions however, were art and music. A lover of knowledge, Sonny took many college classes during his retirement years, ranging from Real Estate to the Culinary Arts. If he wasn’t enjoying a cup of coffee at his beloved cafe, he could be found with a guitar in hand, singing the blues. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 44 years, Linda L. Simmons-Cindric Lesko, his children, Lance Lesko of North Huntingdon and Erica (Nick) Laughlin of Cranberry and by his beloved grandchildren, Ayden, Ella and Tessa. Sonny is also survived by his sister, Rose Marie (Lesko) Pisula of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; Infant Rita Marie Lesko, Gerald Lesko, Shirley Patik, Barbara Dombrosky, and Corinne Nebraska. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 7 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at the funeral home followed by Sonny’s Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant. Following Covid-19 Guidelines, only 30 people are permitted in the Funeral Home at one time. CDC Guidelines for Social Distancing will be followed and face masks are required in the Funeral Home and in Church. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we maintain occupancy limits.
