Obituary of Thomas M. Zavatsky

Thomas M. Zavatsky, 83, of Mt. Pleasant Twp. (Carpentertown), PA died Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Tom was born December 29, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Michael and Anna Balazek Zavatsky. Mr. Zavatsky was a graduate of the former Hurst High School and he later went on to complete his Journeyman apprenticeship as a machinist. He was self employed for many years owning Zavatsky Machine Company. Tom enjoyed attending Sunday Services at Norvelt Union Church, spending time on the golf course, fishing, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Tom is survived by his wife, Peggy Hood Zavatsky; his daughters, Pam Jordan (Randy), Angi Barker (Bob), and Sandi McClain (Jim); his grandchildren, Nicole Naggy (Chad), Randy Jordan Jr. (Mallory), Jeff Barker, Dan Barker, Aly Bucci (Mark), Adam McClain, and Sarah Wardell (Kyle); his great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Kay, Skyy, Christian, Mia, Cassie, Kris, Addi, Camryn, Reese, Reagan, and Baby Wardell. Tom is also survived by his sister Carol Chambers (Tom). In addition to his parents Tom is preceded by his first wife, Joy Peck Zavatsky, his son, Chris Zavatsky, and his brother, Paul D. Zavatsky. Family and friends will be received Friday from 4 until 8 P.M. at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Tom will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday January 23, 2021 in the funeral home with Pastor David L. Greer officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Kecksburg, PA. Due to the current pandemic CDC Guidelines for Social Distancing will be followed and face masks are required. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
