Obituary of Warren L. Leeder

Warren L. Leeder, 81 of Mount Pleasant Township, PA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 20, 2020. He was born on September 2, 1939 in South Connellsville, PA, a son of the late Laird Leeder Sr. and Hazel Brooks Leeder. Warren graduated from Connellsville Joint High School in 1957. He attended Durbin Business School with an emphasis in Bookkeeping and Typing. He also attended the Winona School of Professional Photography, as well as several Nikon schools for photographic training. Prior to retirement, Warren was a professional photographer for the Tribune Review (Trib Total Media), and retired in 2004 with 25 years of service. He had previously worked for the Connellsville Courier and Mount Pleasant Journal. He enjoyed photography both professionally, and in his personal life. Warren was retired from the Pennsylvania National Guard with 21 years of service. While in the Guard he received basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He attended several military schools, as well as having enrolled in military correspondence courses. Warren was an instructor at the NCO academy for several years. In his final year, he was a Brigade Retention NCO retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was very proud of his service. Warren was involved in many organizations including the Elks, Hecla Sportsman, Am Vets, American Legion, and The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA). He could also be found at many of the Mount Pleasant Area School District athletic events. Warren volunteered for many years at the Mt. Pleasant Fireman’s Fair and loved seeing the local residents. He served on the Westmoreland County Housing Authority Board, and was a current member of the Mount Pleasant Area School Board of Directors. Warren served in many ways on the school board including as a representative to the Intermediate Unit and the Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center. He served on the school board for a total of 31 years. Warren enjoyed biking and walking trails. He also was a competitive runner and entered many local races. Most recently you could find he and his best friend Charles Beabout, walking many miles through the local trails. The two put many miles on both bike and foot, together, traveling through Pennsylvania and Maryland. Warren was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Mount Pleasant. In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Landy Leeder whom he loved deeply, and his sister Evelyn Lane. Warren is survived by his children, Terri (Dennis) Remaley of Mount Pleasant, Tracey (Greg) Dugan of West Chester, PA, and Warren B. (Tara) Leeder of Mount Pleasant. His grandchildren, Matthew (Taylor) Remaley, Zachary Remaley, Megan (Matt) Parsons, Blaire (Kevin) Byrne, Samuel, Jack, Maxwell, and Shane Dugan, Brandon, and MacKenzie Leeder, and five great-grandchildren, Reagan, Blakely, Louie, and Kaine Parsons and Seamus Byrne. Additionally, Warren is survived by his brothers Laird (Carolyn) Leeder Jr, David (Tammy) Leeder, and a sister Linda Burnworth, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be private. The family is hoping to have a “celebration of life” gathering in the future.
