Obituary of Margaret G. Comiskey

Margaret G. “Marge” Comiskey, age 81, of Mount Pleasant died Friday, December 25, 2020 at Hempfield Manor. Ms. Comiskey was born August 19, 1939 in Connellsville, PA. She was the daughter of the late James Regis Comiskey and Grace Burkett Byrwa. Marge was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a 1957 graduate of Dunbar Township High School. Marge retired from Frick Hospital as a Nurse with more than 37 years of service. She spent several of those years working in the Operating Room. In her spare time, Marge enjoyed spending time with her friends going to auctions and sales. She also enjoyed landscaping and gardening and taking care of any stray animals dropped off near her home. Marge is survived by the loves of her life, her grandchildren; Leigh Shumar Hudson (Matthew) of Fort Stockton, TX, and Aaron Shumar of Las Vegas NV; her siblings Barry Byrwa of Detroit MI, and Patricia (George) Vomish of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Marge was preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert and Cora Burkett, who raised her; her sister Beatrice C. Bailey; and, her ex-husband Eugene Shumar Sr. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from 10:00 to 12:00. Marge's family would like to extend a thank you to her friend, Sue Pegram, and all of the staff at Hempfield Manor for their friendship and wonderful care of Marge. Following the Covid 19 Guidelines, only 10 people are permitted in the Funeral Home at one time. CDC Guidelines for Social Distancing will be followed and face masks are required.
