Obituary of Irwin N. Townsend

Irwin N. Townsend, age 97 of Mount Pleasant, PA (Bullskin Township), died Thursday, December 24, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Townsend was born June 6, 1923 in Bath, NY, the son of the late Jerome N. and Lois H. Townsend. He was a member of Pennsville Baptist Church. Irwin was a loving Husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to work on his farm and fly airplanes. In addition to his parents Irwin was preceded in death by his loving wife of 25 years, Mona Hearn Townsend; his daughter Brenda S. Geesaman, his sons Robert and James Lyall, and by his brother Herbert Townsend. Irwin is survived by his loving family, his sister's Helen Snyder of Pennyan, NY and Anna Beaman of Hornel, NY, his children, Elizabeth McDermott (Michael) of Bear, DE, Norma Prater (Kenneth) of Rockwell, NC, Richard Lyall (Wendy) of Rising Sun, MD, Josephine Mallonee (Dave), and Patricia Carnaroli (Rob) of Elkton, MD, Mellissa Beers of Mt. Pleasant, PA, and his son-in-law Brian Geesaman of Mt. Pleasant, PA. Irwin was also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of his life Service that will be held Tuesday December 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM in Pennsville Baptist Church, 3298 Richey Road, Mount Pleasant, PA with Pastor Robert Bixel officating. In lieu of flowers, it is Irwin's desire that contributions be made to Eagle Ranch Ministries, 1579 Pleasant Valley Road, Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666 in memory of Irwin N. Townsend. Irwin's family would like to send a special appreciation to the Excela Home Health and Hospice for their wonderful care for Irwin and his family.
