Obituary of Dominic Anthony Giallonardo

Dominic Anthony Giallonardo, age 19 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Sunday, (11/1/2020) surrounded by his loving family, in the comfort of his home, following his 6 year courageous battle with Ewing's Sarcoma. His fight has been an inspiration to many. Mr. Giallonardo was born May 30, 2001 in Greensburg, PA, the son of Carmen and Christine Evon Giallonardo. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. Dom was a 2019 graduate of Mount Pleasant Area High School and a current student at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. He enjoyed all sports from Basketball, Baseball and Football to Golf and weight lifting. He was especially into Video Gaming. Dominic was inducted into the WPIAL Hall of Fame, was named the Western Pennsylvania Positive Athlete and received the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Luke Blanock Courage Award. Dom is survived by his loving family: his parents, Carmen and Christine Evon Giallonardo, his brother, Dante Giallonardo, his paternal grandmother, Frances Dorman Smith of Norvelt and his maternal grandmother, Joan Syrko Evon of Mt. Pleasant. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dominic was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Carmen A. Giallonardo and Gilbert Evon. The family would like to express a very special thank you to Excela Health Home Care and the staff and doctors of Children’s Hospital. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Dominic’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 AM at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Walnut Street, Mount Pleasant, PA. (Everyone please meet at the church). We respectfully request your adherence to all current medical guidelines, including wearing a mask and social distancing and thank you for your understanding as we maintain occupancy limits.
