Obituary of John H. Caruso, Sr.
John H. “Jack” Caruso Sr., age 82 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Saturday (5/11/2019) at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Caruso was born December 15, 1936 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Henry and Margaret Citro Caruso. Jack was a 1954 graduate of the former Ramsay High School. He served in the United States Army, Company E 110th Infantry. Jack proudly began his lifelong career in the Service Station Business in 1965 as Atlantic Richfield, at 819 West Main, St. Mt. Pleasant. After moving his business to its current location at 291 East Main Street, he was joined by his sons and became Jack Caruso and Sons Exxon, until his retirement in 1999. Jack was a founding member of Mt. Pleasant Medic 10, and was their first official Chief. He was also one of six emergency responders to receive his EMT training. Jack enjoyed fishing and joining his friends for lunch, but most of all spending time wth his family.
Jack is survived by his loving family: his devoted wife of 59 years, Leona (Harman) Caruso, his loving sons; John H. “Jackie” Caruso, Jr. and his wife Jennifer and Jamey Caruso, all of Mt. Pleasant and Doug Caruso and his wife Katie of Mars, his beloved grandchildren; Zachary Caruso, Natessa Fox (Justin), Sarah Basinger (Brad), Madison Caruso, Justin Caruso, Julie Caruso, Brandon Caruso and Joshua Caruso, and by his great grandchildren; Jaxsen Fox, Talyn Fox, Karlee Fox, and Ashtyn Basinger.
Jack is also survived by his sisters and brother; Henrietta Balcerek, Amelia Forys (Bob), Henry Caruso (Violet), and Karen Caruso (Bob), his sister in law, Karen (Ream) Caruso and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Pfeiffer (Bob) and Margaret Jurkowski (Bill), his brother, Robbie Caruso, his brother in law, Vincent Balcerek and by his infant brothers, Daniel and Timothy Caruso.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 until 8 P.M. at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, PA. Additional viewing will be Wednesday, from 10 until 11 AM. Jack's Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev Richard J. Kosisko officiating.
Entombment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Township.
