Obituary of Joseph J. Scardina

Joseph “Jody” Scardina Jr., age 66 of Scottdale, PA, died Friday (12/28/2018) at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Scardina was born November 11, 1952  in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Mary  Grace Parise  Scardina.  He was a member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church of Scottdale. Jody was a graduate of Southmoreland High School. Jody was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Era and PA Army National Guard. He had been employed by Summerill Tubing Company of Scottdale. Jody enjoyed hunting and going to church festivals.  

He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 28 years, Eleanor Campbell Scardina, his step children; David W. (Julie) Thomas, Douglas E. (Michele) Thomas, Dennis K. (Kay) Thomas, Dwayne J. (Aimee) Thomas, Donald J. Thomas, Daniel H. (Darla) Thomas, and Darla (Philip) Conty  and by his 21 step grandchildren and 16 step great grandchildren. Jody is also survived by his brother; Dr. Samuel (Laurie) Scardina and by his sister, JoAnn Centofanto and her sons, Tony Centofanto, Todd (Erin)  Centofanto  and their daughter Carissa, Troy (Carrie) Centofanto and sons Tyler, and Hunter.  In addition to his parents, Jody was preceded in death by his step granddaughter: Kendra Willis in 2018.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, PA.

A blessing service will be held  at the funeral home  Wednesday at 10:15 AM  followed by Jody's Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM  at St. John the Baptist RC Church, Scottdale, PA, with the Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki as celebrant.
