Obituary of Genevieve A. Gaia

Genevieve A. (Vikartosky) Gaia, age 91 of Greensburg PA, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday (12/27/2018) in Select Specialty Hospital, Latrobe, PA.

 

Mrs. Gaia was born December 21, 1927 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Lucas Vikartosky. Mrs. Gaia was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg.  Prior to her retirement she had been employed as an Executive Secretary for the U.S. Department of Labor, in Greensburg.  After her retirement she was an active volunteer at St. Anne Home for more than 15 years. Genevieve enjoyed gardening and flower arranging, but most of all loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.  

 

She is survived by her loving family: her sons; Richard “Mark” Gaia and his wife Tricia, Brian S. Gaia and his wife Kara both of Greensburg. Her beloved grandchildren; Britney, Christopher, Thomas “T.J”, and Ricky Gaia. Her sister: Dorothy Viazanko and her husband Paul of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband Richard J. Gaia in 1974, her daughter; Nancy Lee Gaia in 1994, and by her brothers and sisters; Joseph Vikartosky, William Vickers, Mary Ann Payonk and Elizabeth Wasil.  

 

Family and friends will be received Saturday from 10 to 12:30PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held at 12:30PM in the funeral home followed by her 1:00 PM Funeral Mass in Visitation Of The Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant.
