Obituary of John C. Wawrzyniak

 John C. "Yun" Wawrzyniak, age 92 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Thursday, (03/29/2018) in the Excela Health- Frick Hospital,Mount Pleasant, PA. Mr. Wawrzyniak was born August 30, 1925 in Tarrs, PA, the son of the late Charles and Agnes Skero Wawrzyniak. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church., and the former Transfiguration Parish. John attended the former East Huntingdon High School. He was a proud veteran of WWII who served in the United States Marine Corps, participating in several campaigns including the battle of Iwo Jima. Prior to his retirement, "Yun" had been employed for more than 34 years by Latrobe Steel Company. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed shooting pool and looked forward to meeting his friends for tea at McDonalds. John is survived by his loving family: his wife of 65 years, Joan (Roman) Wawrzyniak, his beloved children; Richard Wawrzyniak and Kathy, Sandra DiPasquale and John and David Wawrzyniak and Diane, by his grandchildren; Staci DiPasquale, Beth Terhorst and Dustin, Andrea O'Neal and William, Brian Wood and Amber, Shane Wawrzyniak, Bradley Wood, Amanda Wawrzyniak and David and by his great grandson, Brooks Terhorst. John is also survived by his sister in law, Helen Wawrzyniak. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; Frances Kowalsky, Joseph Wawrzyniak, Mary Smithula, Lotti Bukovac, Walter Wawrzyniak, Josephine Garsteck and by his infant sister Helen Wawrzyniak. Family and friends will be received Monday from 2 until 8 PM. at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held on Tuesday at 12:30 PM in the funeral home followed by John's Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM in St. Pius X RC Church, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 3PM. Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
