Obituary of Carl Allen Stewart
Carl Allen Stewart, age 91 of Mount Pleasant Township, PA, died peacefully, Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at his home, with his devoted family at his side.
Mr. Stewart was born November 30, 1925 in Grindstone, Fayette County, PA, the son of the late Frank and Lydia Kirkpatrick Stewart. Carl served his country in the United States Army during WWII stationed in Germany in the Informational Corps. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Latrobe Steel. Carl was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1537, VFW Post 3368, Marion Lodge #562 F&A.M., and was a 32nd degree mason at the Valley of Coudersport Consistory. He also held a private pilot license. Carl most enjoyed the company of his family and playing country music with his brothers and nephews, The Flatwood Fugitives. Carl was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming for his brother in law.
Carl is survived by the love of his life for the past 69 years, Dolly Newill Stewart, his sons; Kenneth Stewart and Janie and Carl Allen Stewart and Sharon, all of Mt. Pleasant, his daughter, Pat Barrick of Norvelt, and by his five grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Ellis Stewart and Pat of Smock and Joseph Stewart and Newton Stewart and Donna of Vanderbilt, and by his brothers and sisters in law; Ed Rosinski, Virginia and Judy Stewart, Herb Tempest, Eugene and Nancy Saloom and Adeline Newell. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brothers; Les, Buzz, Jake, George, Wilbert, Jim, and Bob Stewart, his sister Betty, and by his son in law, Thomas "Zangy" Barrick.
Family and friends will be received Saturday from 6 to 8 PM and Sunday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 1:30 PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Coltura officiating.
Interment with military rites accorded by the VFW Gold Star Post #7023 will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Kecksburg. Marion Lodge #562, F & AM will conduct Masonic services in the funeral home Saturday at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Contributions may be made to the Kecksburg Ambulance Service, in Memory of Carl Stewart.
