Obituary of Remo Romolo Caschera, Jr.

Remo R. Caschera Jr., age 83 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Excela Health-Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Caschera was born April 19, 1934 in Williamsport, PA, the son of the late Remo R. Caschera, Sr. and Mary Pagana Caschera. He was a member of the former Transfiguration Parish and a current member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. Remo was a graduate of St. Joseph High School of Williamsport, and attended Lycoming College. He was a veteran of the Korean War who served in the United States Marine Corps. Remo had been employed in Banking and Finance for 11 years as manager of the loan department for Northern Central Bank, Williamsport, and loan manager for Beneficial Finance Co. in Thompsonville, CT. He retired as a Discharge Attendant from Latrobe Steel Corp. after many years of service. Remo was a member of the USWA Local 1537, the American Legion Post 446, the Lifetime member of Polish Falcon's. He was a hunter, swimmer, golfer, and card player. Remo was also an avid pool player, his pool cue reading "Williamsport Fats". He enjoyed going to uncle Joe Pagana's family cabin in Renova, PA., but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. Remo is survived by his loving family: his wife of 60 years, Josephine Welc Caschera, his children; Sandra Horne and her husband Richard of Latrobe, David M. Caschera of Mt. Pleasant, and Michelle "Shelly" Baum and her husband David of Pleasant Unity,his beloved grandchildren: Rachael Smith, Richard Horne, Jr., Luke Baum, Jessie Keslar, Jamie Baum, Levi Baum, Josie Baum, and by his great grandchildren, Aubrie and Grady Keslar. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Caschera of Pepper Pike, OH and his sister, Sheila Caschera of Pocono Mountain, PA. In addition to his parents, Remo was preceded in death by his stepmother, Catherine Fogarty Caschera, and by his brothers, Stephen and Richard Caschera. Honoring Remo's wishes, there will be no hours of public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend Remo's Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 1:30PM at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, 740 Walnut Street, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Military Honors, will be accorded by the American Legion Post 446 at the church immediately following the funeral mass. The family wishes to thank the staff at Excela Health, Home instead Senior Care, and the Veterans Administration for all their care and compassion during his illness.
