Obituary of Gregory D. Vanyo

Gregory D. Vanyo, age 68 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in the Excela Health-Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Vanyo was born September 2, 1948 in McKeesport, PA, the son of the late James Vanyo and Joyce Howarth Vanyo Toscano, and his stepfather, Gardner Toscano. Greg proudly served our country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. He had been employed by U.S. Steel / Christy Park and Duquesne. After his retirement, Greg worked as a bartender for the VFW Post 3368 for more than 10 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 3368 and the American Legion Post 446. Greg was an avid golfer and he enjoyed fishing and softball, but his most favorite times were those spent with his family. Greg is survived by his loving family: his wife of 43 years, Beverly Sebek Vanyo, his beloved children, Sean G. Vanyo of Mt. Pleasant and Staci N. Vanyo of Mill Run, and by his grandchildren; Bailee Beckerleg, Conner Vanyo, Abagail Dillon, Carson Vanyo, and Cassie Vanyo. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; James Toscano (Linda) of West Newton, Gary Toscano (Karen) of Orlando, FL, Kathryn Matulay of Mt. Pleasant, Kimberly Fiesta (Donald) of York Haven, Kristine Vanyo-Weinberg (Jim) of Hollywood, FL, and Karolynne Griffiths of Ft. Lauderdale, FL Family and friends will be received Saturday from 4 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Greg's Funeral Service will be held immediately following visitation at 8:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Landman officiating.
