Obituary of John T. Toczek

John T. Toczek, age 79 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Thursday, January 12, 2017 in the Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg, PA, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Toczek was born June 10, 1937 in Mammoth, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Helen Zider Toczek. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, and its Rosary Altar Society. John was a 1955 graduate of the former Hurst High School, and a 1959 graduate of St. Vincent College. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, John had been employed as a Laboratory Supervisor for Climax Molybdenum in Langeloth. He later was employed by the Ft. Cherry School District as a Maintenance Supervisor. John was a member of the American Legion Post 446, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council of Burgettstown, where he had served as Grand Knight. John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed playing golf & baseball. John was also an avid Steeler, Pirates and Pens fan. He is survived by his loving family: his devoted wife of 49 years; Mary M. Polanovsky Toczek, his beloved children; Theresa M. Toczek of Mt. Pleasant and John J. Toczek and his wife Anita of Somerset, NJ, and by his grandchildren, Brian and Asha Toczek. John is also survived by his brother and sisters: Thomas Toczek of Mammoth, Martha Garbon and Andrew of Norvelt, and Helen Wise and William of Greensburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Toczek and by his sister, Jane Rozycki. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Monday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by John's Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held Sunday at 3 PM in the funeral home. Visitation Rosary Altar Society will pray immediately following the wake service. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of John's caregivers for their care and compassion.
