Obituary of Joseph L. Skero, Jr.

Joseph L. Skero Jr., age 79 of Tarrs, PA, died Friday, November 18, 2016 in the Rehabilitation Center of Greater Pittsburgh at Greensburg. Mr. Skero was born July 13, 1937 in Tarrs, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Dropik Skero. He attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Mt. Pleasant. Joe was a 1955 graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School. He had been employed as a Steel Worker for Latrobe Steel with 37 years of service. Joe enjoyed calling bingo for the East Huntingdon Fire Department. He loved gardening, cooking and baking cookies for everyone; but his greatest love was his family whom he enjoyed spending most of his time with. Joe is survived by his loving family: his wife of 57 years, Patricia Ann Dinardo Skero, his children; Jolene Peterson (Harry) of Gibsonia, Holly Lewandowski (Harry Keslar) of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Belzer (Scott) of Tarrs, and Patrick J. Skero (Kelly) of Mt. Pleasant, and by his beloved grandchildren: Amber Shorts (Matt), Aaron Skero, Austin Belzer, Alyssa Skero, Haven Skero, D.J. Hutchinson, and Marisa Hutchinson. He is also survived by his mother in law, Ruth Dinardo of West Newton. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother and sister, George Dropik, and Anna Zwierzelewski. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Joe will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 822 West Main Street, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Karen Thompson officiating.
