Frances Myslewski

Obituary of Frances S. Myslewski

Frances Sophia (Shea) Borowski Myslewski, 96, beloved wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, of Mt. Pleasant, returned home to the Lord on November 12, 2016. Frances was born July 24, 1920, the youngest of nine children who filled the family home on Diamond Street with love, laughter and music. Ever trusting the Good Lord in all things, Frances' devotion, kindness and generosity touched many lives, and served as an inspiration to all who knew her. For much of her life, Frances' deeply rooted faith was nurtured by her church home—the former Transfiguration Catholic Church and School. There, she was baptized, attended school, married Andy, raised a family; and, years later, found love again with Joe. She later attended Mt. Pleasant Visitation Church. Frances married Andrew Shea in 1937, and the couple started their own family in her childhood home, where they cared for her father, Frank, in his later years, and raised their only child, Andrew Jr.—the joy of their lives. The family enjoyed gardening and the outdoors, and spent time in their mountainside cabin near Seven Springs Resort. Most weekends found the house on Diamond Street bustling with visiting relatives, live music, and plenty of food lovingly prepared in Frances' kitchen. Frances first worked as a seamstress at Joytogs Sportswear in Norvelt; then later as an inspector at Pittsburgh Screw and Bolt/Modulus in Mt. Pleasant, from which she retired in 1983. Five years later, she married Joe and moved to his quiet country home in Norvelt, where the couple enjoyed their twilight years traveling and working side by side in their garden and kitchen. Frances spent a lifetime building cherished memories; and she will be greatly missed by all who held her dear. She is survived by her son, Andrew F. Shea and wife, Ginette, of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Andrea Shea of East Lansing, MI, and William Shea and wife, Deanna, of Plano, TX; great-grandchildren Connor and Spencer Ralph, and Taylor and Nicole Shea; stepsons, Donald Myslewski and wife, Marian, of North Huntingdon, Raymond Myslewski and wife, Carolyn, of Mt. Pleasant, Lawrence Myslewski, of Washington DC; step-grandchildren, Susan and Daniel, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sophia (Szalankiewicz) Borowski, and beloved husbands, Andrew S. Shea and Joseph W. Myslewski; daughter-in law, Ruth Yanuck Shea; brothers, John, Joseph, Andrew and Stanley Borowski; and sisters, Nellie Tackacs, Helen Mickey, Catherine Borowski, and Marie Brandon. Family and friends will be received Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 12 noon in the Funeral Home followed by her Funeral Mass at 12:30PM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will follow in Transfiguration Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials gifts be made to support the home meal delivery service run by the Mt. Pleasant Center for Active Adults, 424 Washington St., Mt Pleasant, PA 15666. To offer an online condolence, please visit our web site at: www.galone-carusofuneralhome.com
