Obituary of Richard H. Potoka, Sr.

Richard H. Potoka Sr., age 86 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Tuesday November 1, 2016 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Potoka was born August 10, 1930 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Stephen and Emma Vessely Potoka. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. He was a United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean Era. He had been employed by East Huntingdon Township as an Equipment Operator. Rich was an avid bowler, and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Pirates, Steelers and Pens. He is survived by his loving family: his daughter, LouAnn Byers (Richard) of Greensburg, his step children; Deborah Duffy (Eugene) of Conneaut Lake, William Hunt (Patricia) and Kenneth Hunt (Sherry), all of Titusville, his grandchildren; Dawn, Devyn,, Jeffrey ,Michele , Christine, Rebecca, Joseph, Tracy, Heather, Greg and by his great grandchildren, Jordyn, Shawn, Serenity, Jackson, Leya, and Natasha, Autumn, Ally Jo, Alex, Kenny, Nicholas, Zachery. Richard is also survived by his sisters, JoAnn Lytle (William) of Tarrs and Elizabeth Semarge of Greensburg. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Shaw Potoka in 1963, his second wife, Patricia Hunt Potoka in 2014, his son, Richard H. Potoka, Jr., by his step son, Thomas Hunt, and great granddaughter Alexis, and by his ten siblings. Family and friends will be received Saturday from 3 until 7 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 7:00 PM, immediately following visitation, in the funeral home, with the Rev. Sheldon Moore officiating.
