Obituary of John Walter Krzemien

Mount Pleasant, John Walter Krzemien, age 91 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday August 3, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family. Mr. Krzemien was born October 11, 1924 in Castle Shannon, PA, the son of the late Frank and Rose Pluta Krzemien. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. He attended the former South Huntingdon High School. John was a proud veteran of WWII, who took part in the Battle of the Buldge. He was the recipient of numerous decorations including a Bronze Star Medal, and a European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. John was a life member and past president of the Assunta Club and a life member of the Hecla Sportsman's Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer, and enjoyed playing cards. John was a generous man who could never say no to anyone who needed a ride. He is survived by his loving family, his devoted daughter, Karen Krzemien Laick. ,his grandson, Michael Laick, who was the apple of his eye, and his son in law, James Laick, all of Mt. Pleasant. John is also survived by his sisters and brother; Rose Czarnecki of Coraopolis,, Ann Poper of Wyano, Helen Milewski of WA, Josephine Hribar of Wyano, and Frank Krzemien of West Newton, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Crivella Krzemien in 2009 and by his brother, Stanley Krzemien in 1994. , Family and friends will be received Friday from 5 until 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 1:30 PM in the Funeral Home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM in St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to his special niece Kathy Ceroni for her care and help during John's illness, and the staff at Excela Frick Hospital especially PCU and Excela Hospice.
