Obituary of Robert A. Boyer, Sr.

Mount Pleasant, Robert A. Boyer, Sr., age 89 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Thursday June 16, 2016 in the Excela-Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA. Mr. Boyer was born May 13, 1927 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Homer and Margaret Viola Stout Boyer. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg. Bob was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School, and received his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon Institute of Technology. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Bob had been employed as a Design Engineer Manager for the former Robertshaw Control Company. He had an extensive interest in antique trains,and was a member of the Train Collectors Association since 1960. He was active in the Sunday School Orchestra and had served as its director. Bob also played trumpet and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fireman's Band and was a member of the Blue Ridge Mountain Sports Car Club. He is survived by his loving family: his beloved wife of 63 years, Nancy V. Kastner Boyer, his son, Robert A. Boyer, Jr., and his wife Donna Marie of North Huntingdon, and his grandsons, John and William Boyer. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his infant sister Margaret Rosalyn Boyer. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM and Saturday from 1 until 2 PM, the time of his funeral service, at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Martin Ankrum officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
