Obituary of Josephine G. D'Amico

Mount Pleasant, Josephine G. (Hresko) D'Amico, age 92 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Sunday (04/24/16) in the Excela Health- Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant, PA. Josephine D'Amico was born February 19, 1924 in Tarrs, PA, the daughter of the late George and Nellie Mentus Hresko. She was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. Josephine was a graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School, and then from Beauty School in 1959. She worked as a licensed Beautician and had a Beauty Shop in Youngwood . Josephine was also employed by the Westinghouse Corp until her retirement in 1984. She and her late husband Ralph enjoyed going to the Casinos and to the racetracks. Josephine was a loving mother who raised her two children, Chuck and Carol by herself during the 1950's. Josephine is survived by her loving family: her children; Charles P. Gearhart and Marge of Raleigh, NC, and Carol A. Nedrow and Richard of New Stanton, her beloved grandchildren; Richelle VanDeventer (Thomas), Jeffrey Nedrow (Christy), and Candace Houck (Daniel) and by her great grandchildren; Ross, Sarah Nellie and Frances VanDeventer, Evelyn and Emma Nedrow, and Dakotah, Devyn and Dalton Houck. She is also survived by her brother and sisters; Andrew J. Hresko of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Katherine Gach of Greensburg, and Dorothy Kendra (Robert) of Mechanicsburg. In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Hayes Gearhart in 1957, and her second husband, Ralph Vincent D'Amico in 1985, her great grandson, Dylan Nedrow and by her brother and sisters, George Hresko, Jr., Frances Sullenberger and Dolores Cramer. In honoring Josephine's wishes, there will be no hours of public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Friday 4/29/16 @ 10:00 a.m. in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mt. Pleasant, PA.
