Obituary of Arthur Eugene Hoyle

RuffsDale, Arthur Eugene Hoyle, age 91 of RuffsDale, PA, died Monday (4/11/16) in the Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mount Pleasant, PA. Mr. Hoyle was born August 11, 1924 in Greensburg, PA, the son of the late Albert "Bert" and Sarah Harr Hoyle. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ of Mt. Pleasant. Arthur proudly served in the United States Army during WWII, deployed as a Medical Airman in the first wave of the D-Day invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach. He was the proud recipient of 2 Purple Hearts, one Bronze Star and one Silver Star. Art had been employed with International Paper Company as a Die Mounter. He was also well known as a self-employed contractor. Art was an avid hunter, and had served as deputy game protector. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446, and the VFW Post 3368, both of Mt. Pleasant. He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Margaret J. Forejt Hoyle, with whom he would have celebrated their 69th anniversary on June 14, 2016, his children; Gary Edward Hoyle and his wife Sharon of West Newton, Kenneth Arthur Hoyle and his wife Jan of Hoover, AL, and Shelley M. Hoyle of Greensburg, his grandchildren, Chad Hoyle, Heather Boban, Kelley Parker, and Jarrod Hoyle, and by his great grandchildren; Reed and Cole Hoyle, and Brooks and Brody Boban. Art is also survived by his sister-in-law Helen Forejt Bellnier of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Bertha "Olive" Banner, Margaret Whetsel, Alex Wesley Hoyle, Catherine Kirk, Albert Megrew Hoyle, William "Lawrence" Hoyle, Paul "Virgil" Hoyle, Walter R. Hoyle, and John "Russell" Hoyle. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 PM and Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM in the First United Church of Christ, West Main and South Hitchman Streets, Mount Pleasant, with his pastor, the Rev. Paul R. Sarver officiating. (Everyone is asked to please meet at the Church) Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446, and the VFW Post 3368 will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
