Obituary of Dorothy J. (Cunnard) White

Mount Pleasant, Dorothy J. Cunnard White, age 86 of Mount Pleasant, PA, formerly of Jones Mills, died Saturday (2/6/16) in the Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mount Pleasant, PA. Mrs. White was born January 27, 1930 in Tarrs, PA, the daughter of the late John and Lydia Smith Cunnard. Dorothy attended the County Line Church of the Brethren. She was a 1948 graduate of former East Huntingdon High School. Dorothy had been employed for more than 28 years as a Nurse's Aide for the Laurel Highlands Personal Care Home. She served on the Westmoreland County Board of Elections for more than 25 years. Dorothy was a kind and gentle women who always had a smile for everyone. She is survived by her loving family: her beloved children, Valerie White of Mt. Pleasant and Douglas W. White of Acme, her granddaughters, Ashleigh Miller and Matt, and Andrea Anderson and Bill and by her great granddaughter, Josie Adelaide Miller. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne White in 2000 and by her brothers and sisters; Anna Smith, Evelyn, Leroy, Alice, David, William, Walter, John, Jr. Edna Mae, Lydia, and Edith Eicher, Rachael Cunnard, Eileen Kowinsky, and Leona Furin. Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Landman officiating. Private Interment will be in the Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.
