Obituary of Michael J. Brodak

Mount Pleasant, Michael J. Brodak, age 85 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Tuesday (02/2/16) in Excela-Health-Latrobe Hospital. Mr. Brodak was born September 19, 1930 in Oliver #1, PA, the son of the late John and Mary Tlumach Brodak. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. Mike was a graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Era. Mike had been employed by United States Steel, and the former Modulas Corp, and retired from the Trusco Corporation. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446, the Mt. Pleasant Twp. Lions Club, the Visitation Bowling League, and was also a member of the Bee Keepers Assoc. Mike enjoyed working around his 20 acre farm, caring for his horses, alpacas, sheep and bees and tending to his fruit trees and garden. He was a skilled carpenter, who helped build the Veterans Memorial at the Fairview Cemetery, as well as helping his children and family with their homes. Mike was also a dedicated volunteer for Visitation Parish. Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mike is survived by his loving family: his wife of 59 years, Norma J. Porch Brodak, his sons; Kenneth Brodak and his wife Lori, Keith Brodak, and Kevin Brodak, all of Mt. Pleasant. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; James Brodak of Norvelt, John Brodak, Jr. and Isabelle, and George Brodak, all of Mt. Pleasant, Dorothy Sterrett of Scottdale, Ann Randolph and Robert and Mary Osborne and James, all of Irwin and JoAnn Konek and Mike of Hunker, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Steve Brodak. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by Mike's Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Kecksburg. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Walnut and Eagle Sts., Mt.
