Obituary of Iris J. Blanda Petrosky

West Newton, Iris Jean Blanda Petrosky , age 67 of West Newton, PA, died Monday (08/10/15) in the Excela Health- Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA. Mrs. Petrosky was born June 27, 1948 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late John and Irene Janesko Blanda. She retired from the Hempfield Area School District where she was employed in Human Resources. Iris was cherished by her family and her many wonderful friends. She valued these relationships and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, including her faithful companion, her dog Mojo. Iris is survived by her loving family: her grandsons, Zachary Petrosky and Nicholas Petrosky, and her daughter in law, Tricia Petrosky. She is also survived by her sisters; Kathryn Vise and her husband William, and Patricia McHugh and her husband Michael, and by her nephew Christian and (Melissa Gedeon) Vise, and by her niece, Karah and (Greg) Savolskis. In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Petrosky in 2010, and by her son, Joel Christopher Petrosky in 2001. Family and friends will be received Friday from 4 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Walnut Street, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant.
