Obituary of Walter W. Kitta

Washington, Walter W. Kitta, age 98 of Washington, PA, formerly of Scottdale, died Thursday (06/18/15) in the Donnell House, Washington, PA. Mr. Kitta was born April 3, 1917 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late John and Angela Szymanski Kitta. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church of Scottdale, and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal R.C. Church of Meadowlands. Walter was a Veteran of World War ll, proudly serving in the United States Army. He worked for over many years for the former Glick Brothers Meat Packing Company, and the Hostoffer Meat Packing Co. as a Butcher. He also worked as a Truck Driver for Upper Tyrone Township. Walter was a member of the American Legion Post 446, and the Mt. Pleasant Fireman's Club. Walter was a kind and gentle man. He is survived by his loving family, his children: Thomas J. Kitta and his wife Kathy of Fredericksburg, VA, Judith A. Kitta Mirolli and her husband Thomas of Martin, GA, and David W. Kitta and his wife, Barbara of Washington, PA, and by his beloved Ten Grandchildren, Fifteen Great Grandchildren and One great great granddaughter. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Hohol Kitta in 1998, his two great grandchildren; Nicholas and Lauren Garguilo and by his brothers and sisters: Peter, John, Thomas, Mitchell, Theodore, Stanley, Bruno, Joseph, Frances Kitta, Stella Konieczny and Susan Guriewicz. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 6 to 8 PM and Monday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Prayers of Transfer will be recited Tuesday at the funeral home at 10:15 AM, followed by Walter's Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John The Baptist RC Church, 416 S .Broadway, Scottdale, with the Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki as celebrant. Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the St. John The Baptist Church Cemetery, Scottdale. A Vigil Service will be held Monday in the funeral home at 3:45PM by the Ministry of Consolation of St. John the Baptist Church. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to: St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or one's favorite charity.
