Obituary of Carol J. Smen

Pleasant Unity, Carol J. Kolonosky Smen, age 57 of Pleasant Unity, PA, died suddenly Tuesday (05/19/15) in Excela-Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA. Mrs. Smen was born March 20, 1958 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, the daughter of John and Regina Kubasky Kolonosky of Mt. Pleasant. Carol was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. She was a 1976 graduate of Mount Pleasant Area High School. Carol was employed as a Medical Coder for the Excela Hospital. Carol enjoyed going to craft shows and was an avid collector. She also loved the farmers markets and all of the Pittsburgh Sports events. She always looked forward to September, as fall was her favorite season of the year. Carol was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Carol is survived by her loving family: her parents, John and Regina Kolonosky, her husband of 35 years, Ronald R. Smen, her children: Jeffrey R. Smen and Rachael of Plum and Jillian L. Smen at home. She is also survived by her brother and sister, John J. Kolonosky and Tammie of Mt. Pleasant, and Lisa M. Durst and Brian of McKinney, TX, her brothers and sisters in law; James Smen and Sandy, Stephen Smen and Carla, Tony Smen, Fred Pallottini and June, and Louis Pallottini and Sandy, and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her beloved dog Jasmine. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 12:00-Noon followed by Carol's 12:30 PM Funeral Mass in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev.
