Obituary of Joseph T. Soforic

Scottdale, Joseph Todd Soforic, age 52 of Scottdale, PA, died unexpectedly Monday (05/18/15) in Forbes Regional Medical Center, Monroeville, PA. Mr. Soforic was born December 6, 1962 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Joseph and Audrey Shaffer Soforic of Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church of Scottdale. Joe was a 1981 Graduate of Geibel High School and the University of Pittsburgh in 1985. He worked for the Mt. Pleasant Publishing Corporation in various management roles including: Secretary / Treasurer of the Mt. Pleasant Publishing Corp, Financial Manager of the Mt. Pleasant Publishing Corp.and Business Manager of the Laurel Group Newspapers from 1985 - 2008. He then transitioned to work for the Tribune Review after they purchased the Laurel Group Newspapers. After retiring from the Tribune Review, Joe supported the senior community in Mt. Pleasant through a variety of efforts. He spent much of his time helping and enjoying his family at Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. Joe is survived by his loving family: his parents, Joseph and Audrey Shaffer Soforic, his brother, John Shaffer Soforic and his wife Patti, and by his niece and nephew, Kristen Soforic and Michael Soforic. He is also dearly loved as a second son and brother by the Forrest Kastner Family. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM. at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9:30AM followed by Joe's Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant.
