Obituary of William F. Hamacher

Mount Pleasant, William F. Hamacher, age 80 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Sunday (02/22/15) in the Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Hamacher was born March 9, 1934 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Anthony and Anna Hubert Hamacher. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. Bill was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School, received his Bachelors Degree in Education from California State Teachers College, and his Masters Degree in Education from Indiana University of PA. He had served in the United States Navy. Bill had a variety of jobs throughout his working career and had a life filled with many different adventures. He is survived by his loving family: his sisters-in-law; Gerri Hamacher of Indiana, Kitty Hamacher of Mt. Pleasant, and Mary Lou Hamacher of Derry. Bill is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and one very special ,caring and loving niece, Luann Murtha, who was always there to help Uncle Bill with whatever needed to be done and his special nephew Tom Hamacher who always saw that Uncle Bill got to all family functions and activities. In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by his four brothers: infant brother Anthony J., Hubert W., Richard A., and Ronald D. Hamacher. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by Bill's 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in St. Pius X RC. Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant, followed by military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446. Private inurnment will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
