Obituary of Esther M. Santarel Henderson

Scottdale, Esther M. "Essie" Santarel Henderson, age 73 of Scottdale, PA, died unexpectedly Sunday (01/18/15) in the UPMC-Canterbury Place, Lawrenceville, PA. Mrs. Henderson was born June 29, 1941 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Patsy and Mary Proud Santarel. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Essie was a 1959 graduate of the former Ramsay High School. She had been employed at Anchor Hocking Corporation and Powerex, and had retired from Frick Community Health Center. Essie was a loving, kind and gentle person who enjoyed doing for others. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Essie is survived by her loving family: her aunts, Celine Proud of Mt. Pleasant, and Ida Santarel of Greensburg, and numerous brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Essie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. "Duffy" Henderson, Jr. in 2005 and by her brothers, Marco "Babe" Santarel and Patsy A. Santarel, Jr. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 3 PM.
