Obituary of Christopher M. South

Mount Pleasant, Christopher M. South, Sr., age 51 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Friday (1/9/15) in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. South was born September 28, 1963 in Arlington, VA, the son of Richard W. Smith of Mt. Pleasant and the late Sondra Grove South Smith. Chris was a 1982 graduate of Southmoreland High School. He was a construction worker, and a member of the Laborers' International Union of North America, Local 1058 since 1986. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and while he had many hobbies, he most enjoyed photography and woodworking. Chris was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Gavin, who was welcomed into the world last June. He is survived by his loving family: his father, Richard W. Smith of Mt. Pleasant., his children; Christopher M. South Jr. and his wife Erin of Bethel Park and Andrew D. South and his wife Marissa of Mt. Pleasant, and their mother, Peggy A. South of Donegal and his beloved grandson Gavin Ryder South. Chris is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Darlene M. Wilkins and Harry, John A. South and Tricia, all of Mt. Pleasant, Michelle Weir and Bill of Greensburg, and Richard R. Smith and Beverly of Norvelt. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sondra in May of 2014. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Inurnment will be private.
