Obituary of Charles Robert Geckle

RuffsDale, Charles R. "Chuck" Geckle , age 78 of Ruffs Dale, PA, died Monday (12/15/14) in the Excela Health- Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Geckle was born April 17, 1936 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Clarence and Janet Lynch Geckle. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. Chuck was a 1954 graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School. He served proudly during the Korean Era in the United States Marine Corps. Chuck had been employed as a custodian for the Mt. Pleasant Area School District. He was a member of the American Legion Post 446 of Mt. Pleasant. Chuck was an avid golfer and gifted carpenter, fixing things for everyone, and enjoyed watching the steelers. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. Chuck is survived by his loving family: his wife of 54 years, Joanne D. Gach Geckle, his children; Valerie Spence and her husband Paul of Gibsonia, Mark Geckle and his wife Laura of Webster, NY, Brian Geckle of RuffsDale, and Robert Geckle of Pittsburgh, and by his beloved grandchildren; Joshua, Sarah and Matthew Geckle, and Katherine and Teresa Spence, and a special cousin, Marsha Kennel. In addition to hjs parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence, Jr. and Ronald Geckle. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 12 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9:30 AM followed by his Funeral Mass 10:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Private Inurnment will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Military honors will be conducted following his funeral mass by the American Legion Post 446.
