Obituary of Robert Clair Kalp

Bradenville, Robert Clair "Bob" Kalp, age 64 of Bradenville, PA, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday (8/17/14) at his home, surrounded by his friends and family. Mr. Kalp was born January 16, 1950 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Oran and Thelma Craig Kalp. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Latrobe. Bob was a 1968 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School, and the Vale Tech School in Blairsville. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. Bob was currently employed by the Westmoreland County Community College in the College Services Department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid golfer. Bob was a member of the Slovak American Beneficial Club, the Hecla Sportsmen's Club, and the Cooperstown Club. Bob is survived by his loving family: his children; Nicole Humphrey and her husband Luke of Greensburg, Chad R. Kalp and his wife Melissa of Latrobe, and by his five beloved grandchildren; Madelyn, Arminda, Colten, Kaitlyn and Hannah. Bob will also be sadly missed by Sherry Palmer, his "Best" Friend and caregiver during his illness, his many friends, and by his extended family, the staff of Westmoreland County Community College. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his two brothers, Infant Brother Bruce and William Kalp. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, from 7 until 9 pm at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Bob will be held Thursday at 10:00 am in the funeral home, with his pastor the Rev. Jeffrey L. Schock officiating. Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mount Pleasant.
