Obituary of David N. Porterfield

Acme, David N. Porterfield, age 71 of Acme, PA, died Tuesday (7/22/14) in UPMC-East Hospital, Monroeville, PA. Mr. Porterfield was born May 19, 1943 in Normalville, PA, the son of the late Samuel and Mildred Pirl Porterfield. He worked as a truck driver for most of his life, retiring from the Fred Zeglin, Inc. Trucking Co. Dave was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He was a retired member of the Bullskin Township Volunteer Fire Department. Dave is survived by his loving family: his wife of 43 years, Janet Lankey Porterfield, his children; James Porterfield and Renee Trout, Scott Porterfield and Stacy, all of Acme, Leroy Porterfield and Sandra of Stahlstown, Michael Porterfield and Kathy , Cynthia Porterfield and Cherie Wadkins, all of TX, and by his twelve grandchildren and one great grandson. He is also survived by his brother and sisters; John Porterfield and Kay of Normalville, Jean Burkholder and Dale, Lillian Hall and Larry, all of Connellsville, Hazel Rowe and John of Masontown, and June Porterfield of Normalville. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Sara Firestone, Charlotte Shultz and Emma Porterfield. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, where services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm with Pastor Lee Smith officiating.
