Obituary of Richard A. Kowash

Mt. Pleasant, Richard A. "Dick" Kowash Sr., age 90 of Mt. Pleasant, PA, died Tuesday (07/1/14) in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Kowash was born November 18, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Mack Kowash and Anna Fencil Kowash Caruth. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Rosary Altar Society. Dick was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. Dick was a well known letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Mt. Pleasant for over 25 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 3368 and was an avid golfer and member of various golf leagues in the area. Dick is survived by his loving family: his sons; Richard A. Kowash, Jr. and his wife Judith of Greensburg, and Kenneth J. Kowash of Mt. Pleasant, and by his granddaughter, Amanda Kowash. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Anne M. Muchoney Kowash in 2008. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Monday in the funeral home at 12:00-Noon followed by his 12:30 PM Funeral Mass in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Dennis A. Bogusz as celebrant. Interment will be in the Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Township.
