Obituary of Robert Lee Mortimer

Mt. Pleasant, Robert Lee Mortimer, age 60 of Mt. Pleasant, PA, died Sunday (6/15/14) at UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Mortimer was born December 18, 1953 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of John Mortimer of Mt. Pleasant, and the late Dolores Kargle Mortimer. He was a 1972 graduate of Southmoreland High School. Bob was employed as a Bus Driver for Laidlaw Transit Company, driving Special Needs children. He was active for more than 20 years as a coach for the Mt. Pleasant Girls Softball League, where he also served as president of the league. Bob is survived by his loving family: his father, John Mortimer, his wife of 20 years, Linda D. Spaugy Mortimer, his children; Jamie A. McLaughlin and her husband Michael of Scottdale and Jennifer L. Holt and her husband Frank of Portsmouth, VA. ; his step son, Andy Beers, Jr. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren; Jordan, Colin, Hailey, Jacob, Mackenzie, Frankie and Liam, and Briana. Bob is also survived by his brothers and sister; Barry Mortimer and Debbie, Larry Mortimer and Yvonne, and Terry Mortimer all of Mt. Pleasant, John Mortimer and Tina of Newark, OH, Ron Mortimer and Jodi of Heath, OH, Roy Beers and Brandy of Connellsville, and Bonnie Sue Mortimer of Mt. Pleasant, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Kargle Mortimer in 2011 and by an infant sister, Pamela Ann Mortimer. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Bob will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Landman, offiating. Inurnment will be private.
