Obituary of Sondra K. Grove Smith

Mount Pleasant, Sondra K. Grove Smith, age 72 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died peacefully Saturday (5/3/14) at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Smith was born March 19, 1942 in East Huntingdon Township, PA, the daughter of the late Ralph and Alverda Daisy King Grove. She was a member of the Scottdale Church of Christ. Sondra was a graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School. She had been employed as the Postmaster in Wyano, and had also worked at the Scottdale Post Office. Sondra, along with her husband enjoyed flea marketing and going to yard sales. She loved to travel and vacationed in many places, including Alaska, New Zealand, Australia, and Ireland. Sondra was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; always ready to help her family and friends. Her love and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Sondra is survived by her loving family: her beloved husband, Richard W. Smith, her children; Darlene M. Wilkins, and her husband Harry, Chris M. South, Sr., and John A. South and his wife Tricia, all of Mt. Pleasant, Michelle L., Weir and her husband Bill of Greensburg, and Richard T. Smith and his wife Beverly of Norvelt. She will be sadly missed by her beloved grandchildren; Christopher South Jr. (Erin), Stephanie Anderson, Katie Weir (Patrick), Andrew South (Marissa), Brittany Weir, Natasha Peck (John), Corey Smith and Jaidlynne South, and her great grandchildren, Jordan and Kylee, and her beloved dog "Baby". Sondra will sadly miss welcoming her two great grandsons into the world later this year. In addition to her parents, Sondra was preceded in death by her two brothers, her twin, Samuel R. Grove and Lloyd Grove. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Sondra will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with David Shively, Minister, officiating. Entombment will be in the Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mount Pleasant.
