Obituary of Catherine Matilda Polanovsky Meehan

Mount Pleasant, Catherine Matilda Polanovsky Meehan, age 76 of Mount Pleasant, PA, formerly of Albion, died Sunday (04/27/14) at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Meehan was born March 23, 1938 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late John J. and Matilda Jablunovsky Polanovsky. She was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, and its Christian Mothers and Rosary Altar Societies. Catherine was a 1955 graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School, and the Latrobe Hospital School of Nursing. She loved to bake, work in her garden, and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. Catherine devoted her life to her family and her church. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a caring sister and a true friend. Catherine is survived by her loving family: her children; Patrick J. Meehan and his wife Margarita of Malvern, PA, Kathleen M. Meehan of Mt. Pleasant, Elizabeth A. Meehan of Pittsburgh, and Michael J. Meehan of Media, PA, and by her three beloved grandchildren; Katherine, Emily and Christopher. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers; Mary Martha Toczek and her husband John and John M. Polanovsky and his wife Barbara ,all of Mt. Pleasant, Frank S. Polanovsky and his wife Patricia of Connellsville and Philomena A. Polanovsky of Mt. Pleasant, and by her niece and nephew, Theresa Toczek and John Toczek. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Meehan in 2007 and her niece, Amanda Polanovsky in 1998. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Wednesday at 9:30AM in the funeral home followed by her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 3PM followed by the Rosary by the Visitation Rosary Altar Society.
