Obituary of Virginia Rachael Jacobs

Mount Pleasant, Virginia R. Tabita Jacobs, age 88 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Sunday (03/30/14) in the Excela Health- Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant, PA. Mrs. Jacobs was born October 8, 1925 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Ignatius and Rachael DePietro Tabita. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. Virginia was a graduate of the former South Huntingdon High School. She was a member of the former Shaft Auxiliary. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a friend to many. She loved to mother all of the children in her neighborhood. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her loving family: her children; Karen Potoka and her husband Bruce of West Chester, OH, James M. Jacobs, Jr. and his wife Barbara, and Traci Stairs and her husband John, all of Mt. Pleasant, her beloved grandchildren; Mark Potoka, Christian Potoka, Kathryn Potoka, Zachary Garstecki and Jessica Stairs, and her great grandson, Jonathan Garstecki. Virginia is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Jacobs in 1988, her son, Mark Jacobs in 1977, and her grandson, Paul Garstecki, Jr. in 2013, and by her brothers and sister; John, Matthew, Paul, Joseph and Angelo Tabita, and Mary Louise Tabita Ferrell. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A prayer service will be held Friday in the funeral home at 9:30AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 3PM.
