Obituary of Paul A. Gonofsky

United, Paul A. Gonofsky,Sr., age 97 of United, PA, died Thursday (02/20/14) in Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mount Pleasant, PA. Mr. Gonofsky was born April 29, 1916 in Leisenring #3, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Saska Gonofsky. He was a member of Visitation of Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. Paul served in the United States Army during WWII. He was employed for over 40 years as a steel worker for the former Walworth Valve Company. Paul was a member of the American Legion Post 446, and the VFW Post 3368, both of Mt. Pleasant. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed watching the Pirates and Steelers. Paul was a loving father and grandfather and a true friend to many. He is survived by his loving family: his children; Linda Sue Gusky and her husband James of Tarrs, Paul Andrew Gonofsky, Jr. and his wife Patty of United, with whom he resided, his loving grandchildren; David McKenzie and his wife Michelle, Carl McKenzie, and Christina Lancaster and her husband William, and his seven Great Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his his wife Iva Louise Wilfong Gonofsky; his brothers and sisters; Joseph, Jacob and John Gonofsky, and Elizabeth Frye and Mary Gonofsky. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Monday at 9:30AM in the funeral home followed by Paul's Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion #446 and the VFW Post 3368 will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
