Obituary of Anna Mae Brier Iwaniec

Mount Pleasant, Anna Mae Brier Iwaniec, age 93 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Tuesday (02/18/14) in the Excela Health- Latrobe Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Iwaniec was born March 28, 1920 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late John and Catherine Benjock Brier. She was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, its Holy Rosary Society and Christian Mothers. Anna Mae was a graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School, where she was a homecoming queen. During WW II she was employed by the former Robertshaw Control Company. She and her late husband Edward owned and operated the former Eddie's Bar and Restaurant for over 49 years, where Anna Mae was known for her Chili and Cheeseburgers. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother, a gentle and kind lady who found good in everyone, and would do anything for anyone. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Anna Mae is survived by her loving family: her children; Edward J. Iwaniec, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Mt. Pleasant, Kenneth L. Iwaniec and his wife Debra of Ligonier, her loving grandchildren; Acacia Houck and her husband Michael, Matthew Iwaniec and his wife Amanda, Daniel Iwaniec, Sashonna Zacour and her husband Theron, Ashley Iwaniec and Angela Iwaniec. In addition to her parents, Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Iwaniec in 1983, her second husband, Valerian Iwaniec in 2005, her grandson, PA State Trooper Kenton Iwaniec in 2008 and her brothers and sisters; John, Joseph, Aloysius, and Raymond Brier, and Eleanor Bromyard, Mary Enos, Catherine Sestock, Elizabeth Myslewski, and Frances Austin. Anna Mae was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 9:30AM followed by her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Friday @3PM and the Visitation Rosary Altar Society and Christian Mothers will pray the rosary immediately following the Wake Service.
