Obituary of Joseph W. Myslewski

Mount Pleasant, Joseph W. Myslewski, age 97 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday (12/18/13) in the UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Myslewski was born February 5, 1916 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Walter and Mary Glowacki Myslewski. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant, and a member of the former Transfiguration Parish. Joe was a 1934 graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School. He retired as a Mine Foreman from Republic Steel. Joe was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, and a life member of the Hecla Sportsman's Club. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joe also enjoyed doing latch hook, spending many hours making rugs and other creations. Joe could always be seen on his John Deere tractor mowing his lawn. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was always the first to lend a hand to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Joe is survived by his loving family: his wife, Frances Borowski Shea Myslewski, his children; Donald Myslewski and his wife Marian of North Huntingdon, Raymond Myslewski and his wife Carolyn of Mt. Pleasant, and Lawrence Myslewski of Rehoboth Beach, DE and Washington, DC, his Step Son, Andrew Shea and his wife Jeannette of Dallas, TX, his grandchildren, Susan Myslewski and Daniel Myslewski, his step grandchildren, Andrea Ralph and Bill Shea and four step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Myslewski of CA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Myslewski was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen C. Burzawa Myslewski in 1985, and his brothers and sisters, Walter and Benjamin Myslewski, Leona Newhour, Clara Kiel, Frances Kostelnock and Agnes Myslewski. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Monday at 9:30AM in the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Sunday @3PM. The family suggests memorials may be made to Norvelt EMS or Norvelt Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Joseph W. Myslewski.
